Quick Answer
The Philips Hue Play Gradient Light Tube Compact is a versatile bias lighting solution that blends colorful light beneath your TV, and setup is straightforward with a few key placement considerations.
Why Choose the Compact Version?
The Play Gradient Light Tube Compact is designed for smaller TV setups or where space is limited. Its rotatable tube lets you direct light in any direction, making it a flexible addition to your entertainment area without overwhelming the room.
Placement Trade-Offs
While the tube can be placed or mounted beneath a TV, its compact size means it may not cover the full width of larger screens. For a wider spread, consider pairing it with additional gradient light tubes or using the standard-sized version.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I mount the Play Gradient Light Tube Compact?
- The tube comes with mounting brackets and adhesive pads. Clean the surface beneath your TV, attach the brackets, then snap the tube into place. Ensure the tube is centered for even light distribution.
- Can I use it without a Philips Hue Bridge?
- Yes, the tube can be controlled via Bluetooth using the Philips Hue app, but for advanced features like routines, voice control, and out-of-home access, a Hue Bridge is required. Consider a Hue Bridge if you want full smart home integration.
- What size TV is it best for?
- The compact version is ideal for TVs up to 55 inches. For larger screens, the standard Play Gradient Light Tube or multiple tubes may provide better coverage.
- Does it work with existing Hue lights?
- Yes, it integrates seamlessly with other Philips Hue lights. You can sync it with your entertainment setup using the Hue Sync app for a coordinated lighting experience.
